Regina - A Queen with a Lake, Cupcakes and Owls

Modelling in front of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building

The models have lunch.

Did you know the city of Regina has a large lake smack dab in the middle of it? Wascana Lake is a picturesque oasis with fountains, pelicans and large leafy trees lining it. A 10 kilometer walkway goes all the way around it. Many people use the walkway, including numerous men on bikes blasting their speakers, advertising their vibe to uninterested bystanders. A pet peeve of mine (#398).

Wanting a sampling of a Regina neighbourhood, we went to one called "Cathedral". It has wonderful heritage houses and elm tree lined streets. It is an arty neighbourhood, this translates to colourful murals and eclectic stores. There would be a high priced coffee shop next to a boarded up adult video store, and you know that's been left a long time!

We went in the 'Sinfully Sweet Cathedral' bakery. They have a cupcake for every sin. I didn't manage to get a good look at them however so I can't report back on the sin related flavours. The girl working there was very service oriented. After we said we were 'just looking' she stood facing us and watching our every move - just in case we had a question I suppose. This is another pet peeve of mine (#829). Elsa and I felt very self-conscious and were whispering about the bakery items. We finally got some brownies and got out. If anyone wants to visit that store please do so - they really need customers. Tell me what flavour 'sloth' is.

Elsa with the Owls. Clothes by Blouse Barn.

We needed to kill some time so we went to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, which has a great Owl exhibit. There were taxidermied Owls in a line, you could press the button in front of one and it would play an owl sound and give facts about them.

There was also the largest T-Rex in the world, who's name is Scotty. We marveled at his tiny arms. Scotty also had a lot of teeth issues. They had a simulation of Scotty sprinting, which was actually a video of Scotty falling because they've determined that T-Rex's couldn't sprint, it was physically impossible. If that fact ever comes up in my life again I will be very surprised.

Just checking if you are paying attention! Those Owls were stuffies from the gift shop. Here are some of the actual owls..

We had a great meal at Milestones, although we were still smelly and scruffy from camping this somehow equated to us getting a free dessert and free appetizer! Go figure. Maybe they noted Elsa's bug bites on her legs, she has 21. They took a while to count.
Free food is the opposite of a 'pet peeve' for me (a wild delight?).
